A former latin american exile writes about life..

Ok so I gave up a comfy boring life to go live in South America. Lots have suggested that I write about my experiences, so here it finally is.

finally caught back up to GMT -8

I've been home nearly a full week now. It was a novelty being wide awake at 6:30 in the morning (quite unlike me) but now I'm back in my usual habits of not getting out of bed until about 10:30. I'm still waking up earlier - it's very good to check in with the Montevideo-based development team I'm working with just before their lunch time. I feel like there's more opportunity to interact. Working internationally is challenging but if you get the tools in place (and an EXCELLENT group of people on either end) the time difference is the biggest problem.

Well, that and voice over IP calls leave a little bit to be desired at times but that's just a pet peeve.

The culture shock of being back in the US has worn off as much as its going to - it occurs to me to wonder - is it really culture shock if its a repulsed feeling caused by a streaky orange sprayed-on tan or is that just a reaction to bad taste?

Ok, I won't mention spray-on tans for well... awhile. I'll try not to.
